Toya S. Jacobs, MPA

Toya S. Jacobs was selected as one of East Carolina University's (ECU) Division of Student Affairs Inaugural 40 Under 40 award recipients in 2015. The awards are presented to individuals who excel in their fields and show dynamic leadership qualities through the impact on their communities, peers, and colleagues. Toya currently serves on the Greenville Utilities Commission Board of Commissioners, the State Employees Credit Union Board, and the United Way of Pitt County Board of Directors.


Toya is the Diversity and Inclusion program Manager in ECU's Office of Equity and Diversity. Her 17-year Pirate career has included leadership roles within Human Resources, Student Affairs, Institutional Planning, University Unions and Student Experiences, Intercultural Student Affairs, and the Ledonia Wright Cultural Center.  In August of 2017, Toya started T. S. Jacobs & Company, LLC a full-service interior decorating, public speaking, and personal styling company.

Prior to joining ECU, Toya served as community services director for the United Way of Pitt County and before that, as community education coordinator for the Family Violence Program Incorporated of Pitt County.

She has volunteered extensively with the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce, Ronald McDonald House charities, East Carolina University Women's Roundtable Board of Directors, and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, where she is a lifetime member.

Her numerous honors include the National Pan-Hellenic Council Advisor of the Year Award in 2014 and Outstanding Faculty Advisor in 2010, two Chancellor's Synergy awards and the 2005 NAACP Legacy Award. She participated in the BRIDGES XVI Academic Leadership Program in 2008.

Toya holds two ECU degrees: a master's of public administration with a concentration in public personnel administration and a bachelor of science in child development and family relations.

Toya is married to Jamie Jacobs and has one step-son, Jaylin.
